Layout, typography, and design are more than subsets of
communication. In fact, they help us to understand a message more
quickly and to remind the contents. This is essential for advertising.
But also technical documentations, product descriptions, and project
reports can profit from this impact.
Communication's
»optics« is important at the same level as its contents. A German
proverb says, »Ein Bild sagt mehr als tausend Worte« (a picture tells
more than a thousand words). Sure, it is not possible to tell everything
in pictures. But a consequent graphic revision or redesign can decrease
production costs of a documentation significantly. And this not only by
reducing text.
